Below are the medalists in archery at the 11th ASEAN Para Games (APG) 2022 being held in Solo, Indonesia. Archery competition was scheduled from July 31 to August 5.

Archery at the 20th ASEAN University Games (AUG) 2022

HOME

 

Indonesia and Malaysia dominated the archery events at the 20th ASEAN University Games held in Thailand. While host Thailand also won gold medals to place them in third place overall.

 

Ten events were offered at the games which were scheduled from July 28 to July 31 at the Ban Yang Noi Campus in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand.  

 

 

#SEAGames2021 News 045 | Indonesian Archery Team To Compete in Turkey

 

 

The archery team of Indonesia will participate in the 2022 Archery World Cup in Antalya, Turkey on April 18 to 24 as their final preparation event for the 31st Southeast Asian Games.

The team will be composed of seven male athletes and three female athletes, including three Olympians - Riau Ega Agatha, Arif Dwi Pangestu, and Bagas Prastyadi.

 

This will be their warm-up event before competing in the SEA Games in Hanoi. 

 

There is no specific target for the athletes in Turkey but they wanted the team to peak their performance during SEA Games itself.

 

With three multi-sport events in 2022, the Indonesian Archery Association (Perpani) will stick with the current team. The coaching staff has designed the program to help athletes reach their peak performance in a short time.

 

At the 2019 SEA Games in Manila, Indonesian archery team bagged 8 medals including the two gold medals in recurve events. 

 

Team Indonesia Cliched Olympic Ticket In Archery

Indonesia made an impressive showing at the last qualifying event for Tokyo Olympics held in Paris last June 18 to June 21.

Top three for both team events will qualify for Tokyo Olympics and the men's team of Indonesia courtesy of Arif Pangestu, Alviyanto Bagas Prastyadi and Riau Salsabilla made it after defeating Ukrainian team in the semi-finals.

It was a victory for their men's team despite its women's team nearly qualify to the Olympics as the women's team suffered defeat from Mexican archers in the quarter finals.

Malaysia men's team also got the same fate as the Indonesian women's team. They were defeated by Team Ukraine in the quarter finals, 2-6.

Thailand and the Philippines also sent their top archers at the event but also failed to qualify for the quadrennial event in Japan this June.

2019 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage 3

The 2019 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage 3 was held in New Clark City, Philippines from September 8 to 15.

Malaysia, Myanmar and 2019 SEA Games host Philippines won medals at this tournament.

Other Southeast Asian countries who participated in this competition were Singapore and Thailand.

SEA Games 2019 News 078: Malaysian Archers Prepares for the Worlds & SEA Games

Malaysia is considered the current strongest team in the Southeast Asian Games when it comes to sport of archery.

In fact, Malaysia won 5 gold medals in the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore and another five in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games held in their home soil.

This year, the National Archery of Malaysia or NAAM will select 16 archers to be fielded for the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines.

The selection will be based on the current performance of Malaysian archers at international and local tournaments.

The selection of archers will be finalized on August before the 2019 SEA Games commence on November 30.

As of now, Malaysian national archers like Khairul Anuar Mohamad, Akmal Norhasrin and Zarif Syahir are preparing for the Archery World Championships at Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands scheduled on the 10th to16th June.

Aside from the mentioned names, also on the list are ur Aliya Ghapar, Nur Afisa Abdul Halil and Loke Shin Hui , and Juwaidi Mazuki, Zulfadhli Ruslan, Syahrizan Jafar, Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh, Iman Aisyah Norazam and Nur Aina Yasmine Halim.

SEA Games 2019 News 050: Youngsters To Boost Laos Archery Squad

Laos is rooting for its young archers to boost its archery squad for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines.

The Lao Archery Federation wants to add some new and fresh talents to its current national squad which is composed of those who competed at the recent SEA Games and at the last Asian Games in Indonesia.

An investment amounting of US$120,000 was received by the federation to spend on equipment and training ahead of the 30th SEA Games this coming November.

Currently, the Laos archery squad is training at a local sports school and it urge its youngsters to do well for their spot in the national squad to be fielded in the biennial meet.   

At the 2017 SEA Games, Lao archer's reached the round of 16 phase of the compound individual for both  
men and women's events.

And recently, Laos fielded twelve archers at the 2019 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage-1 held in Bangkok, Thailand last month. (See: Southeast Asia Won Medals at 2019 Asia Cup of Archery)

🎯 2018 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament Stage 3

The 3rd stage of the 2018 Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament was held in Taipei from July 9 to 10.

Among the 13 competing nation were our Southeast Asian teams from the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

South Korea topped the medal standings with 8 gold medals while Chinese Taipei grabbed the remaining two gold medals.

🎯 Hyundai Archery World Cup - Stage 3

The Hyundai Archery World Cup - Stage 3  was held in Salt Lake City, U.S.A. from the 18th to 24th June with 202 competitors from 33 countries.

Two Southeast Asia countries sent their archers to compete and prepare themselves at the upcoming Asian Games in Jakarta this August. These were Malaysia and the Philippines.

Malaysia was composed of  Haziq Kamaruddin, Khairul Anuar Mohamad, Muhammad Akmal Nor Hasrin and Muhamad Zarif Syahiir Zolkepeli.

While team Philippines was composed of Amaya Amparo Cojuangco, Paul Marton De La Cruz, Nicole Marie Tagle,  Joseph Vicencio and Earl Benjamin Yap.

Best Results of Southeast Asian archers in this competition were:

Bronze: Recurve Men Team

• Team Malaysia defeated Team Italy

(Haziq Kamaruddin, Khairul Anuar Mohamad, Muhammad Akmal Nor Hasrin)

Bronze: Compound Women

• Amaya Amparo Cojuangco of the Philippines defeated by  Sophie Dodemont of France

🎯 Archery World Cup - Shanghai 2018

Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam competed at the 2018 Archery World Cup held in Shanghai, China from April 23 to 28.

Indonesia took home a bronze medal at the 2018 Archery World Cup held in Shanghai, China.

This is the only medal won by Southeast Asian archers. 

Indonesia`s bronze medal was won by Diananda Choirunisa and Riau Ega Agata in the recurve mixed team event.

The tandem of Choirunisa and Agata beat Brady Ellison and Khatuna Lorig of the United States in the bronze medal event with a score of 6-0.

Indonesia sent a total of 14 archers, Laos with 8, Malaysia with 15, Thailand with 16 and Vietnam with 8 competitors.

The 14 archers from Indonesia are among those groomed for the 18th Asian Games 2018 for which Indonesia will the host.

South Korea emerged as the overall champion by winning three gold and two silver medals while United States came second with 1 gold, 1 silver and a bronze medals.

Meanwhile, host China just only won a bronze medal.

The competition attracted 357 archers from 45 countries.

🎯 Archery | Asia Cup 2018 - Leg 2

The Asia Cup 2018 in archery - Stage 2 is being held at the Rizal Memorial Baseball field in Manila, Philippines from April 6 to 11.

13 countries from Asia and Oceania like Australia and New Zealand are competing in 10 events.

Southeast Asian countries who competed in the 6-day tournament were Malaysia, Thailand and host Philippines.

Dela Cruz also captured the men's compound individual defeating Hsiang-Hsuan Chen of Chinese Taipei in the finals.

Indonesia and Vietnam are not present in this tournament while Malaysia sent new names (team B) for their team.

On the last day of the competition, the Philippines saw action in the compound events in the mixed team event and men's team event.

Amaya Amparo Cojuangco and Paul Marton Dela Cruz won the gold medal after beating the duo of Chinese Taipei team in the finals, 151-147.

Unfortunately, Philippine men's team composed of Paul Marton Dela Cruz, Earl Benjamin Yap and Joseph Vicencio unable to defeat another Chinese Taipei team, 133-135. The team settled for silver medal.

Team Philippines returned in the field for bronze medal in the mixed recurve team event courtesy of Kareel Meer Hongitan and Mark Javier but vowed against their rival archers from India.

Also, the women's compound team of the Philippines placed third behind Chinese Taipei and India who won the gold and silver medals respectively.

All-in-all, the Philippines won 2 gold medals, a silver and a bronze medals.

Chinese Taipei topped the medal tally with 6 gold medals while Korea placed second overall with 2 gold medals.

Medals awarded in the qualification round are not included in the tally.

🎯 Archery | Asia Cup 2018 - 1st Stage

The first stage of Asia Archery Cup 2018 was held in Bangkok, Thailand from March 2 to 8 with 227 archers from 25 countries and territories competing in 10 events.

Southeast Asian archers from Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam were among the competitors of the event. 

Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam were among the nations who won medals at this event. 

Vietnam won two gold medals, Malaysia got 3 silvers while Indonesia collected 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.

The second stage of Asia Cup 2018 is scheduled in Manila, Philippines on April.

Hyundai World Archery Championships 2017

Malaysia and the Philippines were among the 58 countries that competed at the 2017 Hyundai World Archery Championships held in Mexico City, Mexico.

The week long championship was participated by 373 archers around the world where Malaysia offered 12 while Philippines sent 4 competitors.

Unfortunately, the two countries did not win any medal at this world championships.
 
Mat Salleh Fatin Nurfatehah of Malaysia in women's compound reached  round of 16. While compatriot Kamaruddin Haziq, Mohamad Khairul Anuar and Nor Hasrin Muhammad Akmal also reached the recurve men's team event beating Mexico in the first round. But surrendered in the quarter finals against powerhouse South Korea.
 
At the end of the competition, South Korean team came on top with 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. Italy, France, USA, Colombia and Russia snatched 1 gold each.

🎯 Asian Archery Cup - Stage 3

The stage 3 of Asian Cup of Archery was held in Chinese Taipei from July 4 to July 9. Three nations from Southeast Asian competed in this tournament. These were Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

Malaysia sends another message to the rest of its Southeast Asia rivals in SEA Games 2017 as it grabs five medals in this competition.

Malaysia reached the gold medal match against Chinese Taipei in the men's compound team event. But the host halted Malaysia's attempt to snatch the gold. Team Malaysia just settled for silver medal while Thailand was also defeated by India for the third place.

In the women's team, Malaysia faced Iran for bronze medal. It was Iran who grabbed the third place.

Luckily, Thailand finally reached the finals of the compound mixed team event assured of silver medal. Their opponent India has shown their class in archery as they win over the Thai archers for gold. Team Thailand received the silver medal.

Malaysia and Thailand battled against each other for bronze medal in the men's recurve team event after both teams were defeated in the semifinals by Chinese Taipei and Korea respectively.  The match ended with Malaysia walking the bronze medal.

In the women's recurve team and recurve mixed team , Malaysia fought against powerhouse India in battle for third place. Malaysia won in the women's team event but lost their match in the mixed recurve team event.

Zulfadhli Ruslan reached the bronze medal match in men's compound against Hsiang-Hsuan Chen of Chinese Taipei. But it was the host who prevailed and win the bronze.

In the women's compound, Malaysia's Salleh Fatin Nurfatehah Mat also reached the bronze medal match. She battled against another Chinese Taipei Ming-Chi Lin but this time Malaysia prevailed to win the bronze.

🎯 Hyundai Archery World Cup - Stage 3

The quest for SEA Games gold medals is reaching as far as Salt Lake City, Utah as teams from Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam participated in the five-day Hyundai Archery World Cup - Stage 3 tournament held in the mentioned city.

This tournament with 281 competitors from 39 countries around the world serves as a preparation for our ASEAN archers not only for the coming Southeast Asian Games in August but for other big competitions such as the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

For this tourney, Malaysia sends a message to its Southeast Asian rivals as team Malaysia reached the bronze medal match against Mexico in the men's recurve team event. The trio of Haziq Kamaruddin, Khairul Anuar Mohamad and Muhammad Akmal Nor Hasrin beat the team from Mexico, 6-2 in the 3rd place match.

Also,Muhammad Akmal Nor Hasrin reaches the quarterfinals of the men's individual recurve. He was stopped to proceed for the next round by Brazil's Marcus D'Almeida.

Paul Marton de la Cruz of the Philippines was close to reached the quarterfinals of the men's compound but was halted by Netherlands' Mike Schloesser in the third round of the competition.
