Meet the official mascot of the 20th Asian Games!!!

The organizing committee of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, has just unveiled the adorable new mascot! It doesn’t have a name yet, but that will be decided soon.

“It loves sports and aims to passionately promote the Asian Games, uniting people beyond race and culture to ‘IMAGINE ONE ASIA’ through sports and a shared wish for peace,” says AINAGOC.

Mark your calendars! The 20th Asian Games will be held from September 19 to October 4, 2026, in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

✹ #AsianGames | A Comeback For PH Volleyball Team After Almost 50 Years

The Philippine men's indoor volleyball team to the 19th Asian Games will be led by veteran campaigners Bryan Bagunas and Marck Jesus Espejo.

The team which is in Pool F is composed of Ryan Andrew Ka, Steven Charles Rotter, Joshua Umandal, Kim Niño Malabunga, John Paul Bugaoan, Chumason Celestine Njigha, Lloyd Josafat, Vincent Raphael Mangulabnan, Manuel Sumanguid III and Adrian Villados.

Their first match will be against SEA Games champion Indonesia on September 19 followed by Afghanistan on September 20 and Japan on September 21.

This is Philippines' comeback after almost 50 years in the Asian Games in the men's division. Their last participation was in 1974 in Tehran, Iran where they finished in 6th place.

✹ #AsianGames | Vietnam To Compete with 337 Athletes

Vietnam will participate in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China with 337 athletes competing in 31 sports.

The delegation will compete in swimming, athletics, weightlifting, shooting, gymnastics, archery, rowing, canoeing, sepak takraw, chess, chess, table tennis, tennis, karate, boxing, judo, taekwondo.

Vietnam will also compete in wrestling, wushu, jujitsu, kurash, fencing, roller sports, volleyball, golf, badminton, handball, e-sports, soft tennis, breaking dance and soccer.

As per source, Vietnam is targeting to win two to five gold medals and they are expecting it from chess, shooting, karate, cycling, weightlifting, sepak takraw and archery. But as per scouting, Vietnam can also produce medals from athletics, swimming, artistic gymnastics (MAG) and taekwondo.

At the last Asiad in Palembang, Vietnam bagged 5 gold medals coming from athletics, pencak silat and rowing.

✹ #AsianGames | Singapore To Compete with 431 Athletes

Singapore will be represented by 431 athletes in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China this coming September. This is the largest contingent ever to be sent by Singapore in the Asiad. The contingent will compete in 32 sports.

Jowen Lim of wushu & Amita Berthier from fencing will be Singapore's flag bearers to the Asian Games. However, their first ever Olympic gold medalist Joseph Schooling will not be present for Asiad.

At the last Asian Games in Indonesia, Singapore finished at 18th place in the medal tally with four gold medals, two of which came from Joseph Schooling in swimming.

✹ #AsianGames | Malaysia To Compete with 289 Athletes

Malaysia will be represented by 289 athletes and 145 officials that will compete in 22 sports in the 19th Asian Games in China. Out of 483 events to be contested, Malaysia will see action in 141 events.

#TeamMalaysia will compete in Diving, Swimming, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball 3x3 (Men’s and Women’s), Boxing, Cricket (Men’s and Women’s), Cycling (Track and Road Race), Dragon Boat, Equestrian, Gymnastics (Artistic and Rhythmic), Hockey (Men’s and Women’s), Kabbadi, Martial Arts (Ju-jitsu & Karate), Mind Sport (E-Sport, Go, Xiangqi), Rugby, Sailing, Sepaktakraw, Shooting, Squash, Taekwondo and Wushu.

At the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, Malaysia finished in 14th place in the medal tally with 7 gold medals coming from bowling, cycling, sailing, sepak takraw and squash.

✹ #AsianGames | Myanmar to Compete With 111 Athletes

Myanmar will send 111 athletes composed of 63 male and 48 female athletes to Hangzhou Asian Games in China. They will compete in some sports like boat racing, wushu, football (men & women), taekwondo and Esports.

In the last Asian Games in 2018, Myanmar only managed to win two bronze medals.

✹ #AsianGames | No Rivan For Indonesia at the 19th Asiad?

Rivan Nurmulki, one of the most decorated medalists of Indonesian men's volleyball team was dropped from the initial list of players going to the 19th Asian Games in China.

As per source, there is an ongoing mediation between Rivan and its national federation to smoothen the situation between the two parties.

Also, there were rumors that Rivan is at the early stage of negotiations with club teams in Central Asia where he could possibly play until 2024.

Rivan propels the Indonesian team to get its third consecutive title in the Southeast Asian Games since 2019 and has played with several clubs abroad.

Volleyball fans are hoping that Rivan will be included in the men's national team since there is a mediation going on.

✹ #AsianGames | 8 Karatekas to Banner Team Philippines

Eight karatekas will represent Team Philippines at the 19th Asian Games in China. Karate is scheduled from September 5 to 8 at the Linping Sports Centre Gymnasium. Fourteen gold medals are at stake in this year's Asiad.

At the last Asiad in Indonesia, Philippines bagged a bronze medal courtesy of Junna Tsukii in the women's -50kg kumite.

Currently, the Philippine squad is training abroad in preparation of this quadrennial meet.

Vietnam will compete in sepak takraw in the upcoming 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou and here are the athletes that will banner Team Vietnam.

✹ #AsianGames | Indonesia to Compete with 415 Athletes

Indonesia will compete in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China with 415 athletes and 161 officials. This was conveyed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo.

Indonesia is targeting eight to twelve gold medals and to finish at least in Top 8 in the medal table. The expectation for gold medal harvest of Indonesia was lowered. Unlike in the 2018 Asian Games where Indonesia hosted, pencak silat contributed half of its gold medals. In this edition, silat was not in the programme of Hangzhou Asian Games.

Indonesia bagged 31 gold medals in the 2018 Asian Games and finished in 4th place in the medal table.

Meanwhile, Indonesia will send 134 athletes to participate in 12 sports at the 2022 Asian Para Games.

Tim Cone To Lead PH Basketball Team

Tim Cone, the winningest PBA Coach Tim Cone will lead Gilas Pilipinas in its campaign in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China this coming September. This was the official announcement of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas of its official social media platforms on Facebook and on X (Twitter).

Regarding the final line-up of the team members for Gilas Pilipinas, there is no official announcement yet.

Tim Cone has coached Gilas Pilipinas last 2019 SEA Games in Manila and in the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand where Team Philippines won gold and bronze medals respectively.

#AsianGames2023 Update

The Pre-Delegation Registration Meeting of the Hangzhou Asian Games will be held from May 20 to June 15.

HAGOC and the participating national (regional) Olympic Committees will hold video meetings one by one. This is one of the necessary steps for these delegations to participate in Hangzhou Asian Games.

Esports has been named as a full medal event for the 2022 Asian Games, a major step towards the mainstream for a sport that has long harbored Olympic ambitions.

Eports and breakdancing were both included on the program for the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, at the Olympic Council of Asia’s general assembly in Muscat this week.

Also, breakdancing, skateboarding, surfing and sport climbing were approved for the Paris 2024 Olympics, as the Games strive to appeal to younger audiences.
