Malaysia is the top performing team during the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the Philippines with 9 gold medals from the rhythmic and artistic events.
And for the 31st SEA Games that will be held in Vietnam this month of May, Persekutuan Gimnastik Malaysia or the Malaysian Gymnastics Federation has named 19 athletes who will compete for Team Malaysia.
In the men’s artistic team, 2019 SEA Games gold medalist Tan Fu Jie will lead the squad along with Mohd Sharul Aimy, Ng Chun Chen, Teoh Chuen Feng, Luqman Al Hafiz Zulfa and Zul Bahrin Mat Asri.
For the women’s artistic team, it is composed of Tan Ing Yueh, Rachel Yeoh Li Wen, Geanie Ng Ee Ling and Zarith Imaan Khalid.
While for the rhythmic individual events, Koi Sie Yan, Izzah Amzan, Ng Joe Ee and Lai Yun Jo will try to dominate again the event.
Part of its preparation for SEA Games, the Malaysia Gymnastics team had their training camp in Baku, Azerbaijan last November 10 to December 10.
Meanwhile, multiple SEA Games gold medalist Farah Ann Abdul Hadi will not anymore compete for the Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam following her retirement as confirmed by Malaysian gymnastics officials.
