Vietnam's most decorated swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien who has won numerous medals at
international competitions for Vietnam has decided to retire and will not take part in the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in May according to a report by VietnamNet.
The decision was made following her resounding triumph at a national
swimming tournament held recently in Thua Thien-Hue province.
On her Facebook page, Anh Vien expressed thanks to her followers for their
support during the past 12 years and she now wants to live a normal life
and learn new things.
She also mentioned that her health is not good compare before to achieve good results in swimming. Meanwhile, General Administration of Sports was trying to persuade her
to compete at SEA Games 31 to be hosted by Vietnam in May 2022.
At the 2019 SEA Games, Anh Vien bagged 6 gold medals and two bronze medals. She was also hailed as best athlete in 30th SEA Games together with Singaporean swimmer Quah Zheng Wen.
