Malaysia will participate in beach and indoor volleyball in the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games which will be held in Vietnam this coming May.
The Malaysia Volleyball Association (MAVA) expressed its gratefulness to the president of Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Tan Sri Dato Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria and to the members of the
SEA Games Vietnam 2022 Selection Panel for approving the men's and women's
teams of the indoor and beach volleyball to participate at Vietnam SEA Games 2022 under category B.
After its absence in indoor volleyball at the 2019 SEA Games in Manila, Malaysia is returning to the biennial meet to try its mettle in the court while its beach volleyball teams will try to continue to clinch medal which they failed to in the last SEA Games.
Aside from its go signal to compete in Vietnam, Malaysia Volleyball League is coming back organized by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) with MAVA and will open on March 8 until March 13 with eight participating teams.
The volleyball league also invited some players from countries like Sri Lanka, Singapore and the Philippines to make the league more competitive. The tournament will be held at the Dewan Bola Tampar, Section 4 in Shah Alam.
The last time Malaysia won SEA Games medal in indoor volleyball was in 2001 for men (silver) and 1983 for women (bronze).
