Dancesport will be a medal-sport event again in the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam with 12 gold medals to be contested.
Vietnam as host of the biennial games is aiming to win at least three gold medals in this sport.
In SEA Games dancesport history, the Philippines and Thailand are the dominant teams while Vietnam is the newbie team.
Actually, this sport is not Vietnam's forte and aside from that dancesport cost billion Dong per year according to one report.
And to be able to attain its goal this coming SEA Games in May, Vietnam athletes are training in two locations with their respective coaches. One group is training in Hanoi while the other group is in Ho Chi Minh City.
Aside from local training, Vietnam team is planning to travel its dance-athletes to Italy as soon as possible if it requires and will return in Vietnam in April for further polishing until the opening of the 31st SEA Games.
At the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, Vietnam struck two gold medals - one each in standard and in Latin dances.
