Esports will be contested in the 31st Southeast Asian Games which Vietnam is hosting this coming May. This medal-sport event will be held at the National Convention Center in Hanoi from May 13 to May 22 .
The Malaysian Electronic Sports Federation (MESF) has set a modest goal of four-medal and a top two overall finish in this year's SEA Games.
A total of 10 gold medals will be up for grabs in eSports in the Vietnam Games but only aged 18 and above by May 12 are allowed to compete for this sport.
Malaysia will compete in PUBG Mobile (individual), Garena Free Fire, League of Legends (PC) as well as in both men’s and women’s team events of League of Legends: Wild Rift (mobile) but will not compete in CrossFire.Malaysia is expecting that medals would come from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG)
Mobile (team event), FIFA Online 4 and Arena of Valor.
To do it, its federation is now organizing a national selection trials from February 18 to March 6 to identify the best players to represent Malaysia.
After the selection process, players will attend a two-month boot camp at the
National Sports Council (NSC) in Bukit Jalil and EBN Esports City at
Quill City Mall as well as be sent for exposure in both domestic and
international competitions before heading to Hanoi.
Malaysia bagged 1 gold medal and a bronze medal in Esports in the 2019 SEA Games in Manila.
