#SEAGames2021 News 019 | Philippine Cycling Sets Modest Goal in Hanoi

The Philippines' cycling team is set to compete in the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) which will be held in Vietnam this coming month of May.

Philcyling (Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines) is setting a modest goal of winning four (4) gold medals out of the twelve (12) events at stake in the Hanoi SEA Games.

The 12 events are to be contested in mountain biking (MTB) which has 4 events and the road cycling with 8 events. BMX events are excluded at this year's biennial meet.

Philippines' national federation has submitted a 27-man delegation to the Philippine Olympic Committee which is composed of 16 riders for the road events and 11 cyclists for the mountain biking events.

Training camps for the national team are also being set in April by the federation with the road racers to undertake a month-long final buildup in Pangasinan and the MTB group in Talisay-Laurel, Batangas.

Philcycling plans to send the coaches to Hanoi a few weeks before the SEA Games for ocular inspection of the venues, trails and courses.

At the 2019 SEA Games, host Philippines bagged 11 medals in cycling including the 3 gold medals.
