#SEAGames2021 News 005 | Young Swimmers Could Potentially Banner Singapore Flag

With less than 100 days before the 31st Southeast Asian Games to be held Hanoi, Singapore could potentially field few of its young swimmers together with the veteran and decorated swimmers for the biennial meet.

After a disappointing results from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan, Singapore swimming team is in rebuilding process with Gary Tan as the newly appointed head coach.

With three major games in 2022, Tan will be busy together with his team which includes NTC assistant coach Gustavo Schirru, national athletic development co-ordinator Thng Shiqi, and NTC assistant coaches Lionel Khoo and Alex Mordvincev.

Their first major assignment is the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam on May and could possibly see a young squad competing in the games.

The other two major events are the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in July and the Asian Games in China this September.

Posted on the Facebook account of Singapore Swimming Association (SSA), a full pack of aquatic events are calendared from February to April this year for the Singaporeans.

Last November 2021 at the 9th Singapore National Swimming Championships (Short Course Metres), nine swimmers set 20 new records.

With these calendar of events and records broken, Singapore could possibly repeat its dominance in SEA Games this May having host Vietnam as a threat.

At the 2019 SEA Games in Manila, Singapore dominated the swimming events with 37 medals which includes 23 gold medals.
