Malaysian athletics team participated at the XXXI Qosanov held at Memorial Central Stadium in Almaty, Kazakhstan from June 19 to 20. They won a total of six medals including two gold medals from Tokyo Olympic bound Lee Hup Wei and from Connie Choo Kang.
Below are the medalists from the Malaysian track and field team.
- Gold - Olympic bound Lee Hup Wei (Men's High Jump - 2.10m)
- Gold - Connie Choo Kang (Women's Discus Throw - 43.65m)
- Silver - Jonathan Nyepa (Men's 200m - 21.76)
- Silver - Jonathan Nyepa (Men's 100m - 10.64)
- Bronze- Muhammad Ilham Suhaimi (Men's 200m - 21.92)
- Bronze - Rayzam Shah Wan Sofian (Men's 110m Hurdles - 14.18)
Other Malaysian athletes who competed at the event were Sean Yee Yap in women's high jump with 1.75m (5th place) and Muhd Hakimi Ismail in men's triple jump with 15.62m (4th place).
