The International Golf Federation (IGF) has released on their website the list of top 60 women golfers qualified to compete at the 32nd Summer Olympiad to be held in Tokyo, Japan this coming July.
Southeast Asian golfers are among the top golfers based on the final ranking conducted weekly by IGF that will see action in Tokyo Olympics.
Leading the women's side is the 2021 US Women's Open Champion Yuka Saso from the Philippines. She is rank 9th according to the ranking system and will be joined by her compatriot Bianca Pagdanganan who is rank 42nd.
These two golfers from the Philippines were part of the team who won the women's team gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games and both won as well in individual event, Saso took home the gold medal while Pagdanganan settled for bronze medal.
Thailand will also see action in Tokyo Olympics as two of its golfers qualified to compete at the quadrennial meet. Patty Tavatanakit who ranked 12th will be joined by Ariya Jutanugarn who is currently rank 17th. This is Ariya Jutanugarn second time to compete in Olympics after her stint in Rio de Janiero last 2016.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's Kelly Tan also made it to this year's Olympics. This is her second consecutive time to compete in Olympics. She is currently sitting at the 42nd place out of 60 golfers qualified to compete in Japan.
The women's golf event will start on August 4 to August 7 at the Kasumigaseki Country Club in Kawagoe, Saitama, Japan.
