EJ Obiena on Track For Olympic Medal


 
Tokyo Olympic bound Ernest John Obiena of the Philippines has cleared 5.87m in men's pole vault during the World Athletics World Continental Tour (Irena Szewinska Memorial) in Bydgoszcz, Poland last 30 June. He placed 2nd behind Christopher Nilsen of USA.
 
Recently, he shared the 2021 True Athletes Classics title with 2016 Rio Olympics pole vault champion Thiago Braz of Brazil by clearing the 5.80m mark. 
 
Obiena has been in Europe to participate and compete in pole vault for his preparation to the Tokyo Olympics this month. Below are his previous best results.

And becuase of his feat in Bydgoszcz in Poland, Obiena has rewrites his Southeast Asian record! Congratulations!
