SEA Games 2019 News 045: Indonesia To Send Senior Athletes For Karate


Karate is a medal contributor for Indonesia in Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games.

Indonesia won one gold medal at the recent Asian Games 2018 and three gold medals at the 2017 SEA Games.

To sustain its gold medal rake, the Indonesian Karate Association (Pengurus Besar Federasi Olahraga Karate -do Indonesia or PB Forki) will give more opportunity to senior athletes to compete in the forthcoming SEA Games 2019.

The association puts priority on SEA Games and other big tournaments like the Asian Games and the Olympics.

Prior to this, it was reported that Indonesia will send most of their junior athletes at the 30th Southeast Asian Games to be held in the Philippines.

But for Indonesia's karate, their junior team will be joining special tournaments to enhance their capabilities and skills. But they are still considered for participating in SEA Games 2019.
Karate is one of the 56 sports calendared at the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
