Singapore has expressed its preparedness to the coming 30th Southeast Asian Games.

The Kickboxing Federation of Singapore held the Singapore Kickboxing Championships 2019 last 22nd to 24th of March at Marina Bay Sands, Hall E, Basement 2.

The federation used an open electronic scoring system to ensure fairness and openness in scoring the competition. It was provided by WAKO Asia who also provided the technical support of the tournament.

Aside from technical support system, the championships also had its standby medical team to ensure the safety of all athletes.

The successful kickboxing championships served as team selection for Singapore to the upcoming SEA Games 2019 to be held in the Philippines.

At the end of the event, Hilltop Academy was declared the overall club champion.

Kickboxing will be one of the sports calendared at this year's SEA Games. It is also the first time for kickboxing to be included in SEA Games as a medal sport event.

The eight kickboxing events are the men’s -51kg and -57kg full contact, -54kg, -60kg and -63.5kg low kick and -67kg kick light, women’s -48kg full contact and -52kg kick light.

At the 2017 SEA Games overall medal tally, Team Singapore was just 1 gold medal behind 3rd placer Vietnam. So expect Singapore to make some rally against sports powerhouses in Southeast Asia including host Philippines.
