The 2017 World 9-Ball Championship was held at the Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha, Qatar from December 4 until December 14.The finals of the said tournament saw two Filipinos competing against each other for the top prize and assuring the title back to the Philippines after 7 years.But ruling the event was Carlo Biado of the Philippines who trounced compatriot Roland Garcia, 13-5 in the finals.Biado became the fourth Filipino to win the title after Efren Reyes in 1999, Ronato Alcano in 2006 and Francisco Bustamante in 2010.Biado cruised to the finals after beating Wu Kun Lin of Chinese Taipei, 11-6, while Garcia subdued Albanian Klenti Kaci with the same score in the semi finals.Maung Maung of Myanmar reached the quarter finals but failed to advance after losing to Klenti Kaci of Albania.Other than Biado and Garcia, other Philippine cue players in the competition were Warren Kiamco, Jeffrey Ignacio, Francisco Felicilda, Israel Rota and Jeffrey De Luna.Other Southeast Asian billiard players who were in the knock out rounds were Kwang Chan Keng of Singapore, Hoang Duong Quoc and Nguyen Anh Tuan of Vietnam.
