8th Asian Women’s Amateur Boxing Championships 2017

The 8th Asian Women’s Amateur Boxing Championship was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from November 2 to 8 with a record number of 107 boxers from 20 countries.

Among the 20 nations in this tournament is our Southeast Asian pugilists from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and host Vietnam.

After a long week battle in the ring, host Vietnam and Thailand are among the 11 countries who made it on the medal board. 
Thailand's Peamwilai Laopeam took the lone bronze medal after a defeat from Kazakhstan's Madina Nurshayeva in the semi final round.

On the other hand, Vietnam only managed to collect one gold medal despite having 5 boxers in the finals. Nguyen Thi Tam won the lone gold medal for Vietnam in the  flyweight (51kg) class. While the other 5 boxers settled for silver medals.  
Below are the day-today results of our Southeast Asian women boxers at the 8th edition of this Asian championships.

Cambodia
  • Vy Srey Khouch (Cambodia) was defeated by Thailand's Ratchadaporn Saoto in the lightweight (60kg) event

Indonesia
  • Uzbekistan's Tursunoy Rakhimova defeated Indonesia's Aldriani Beatrichx Suguro at the flyweight (51kg)
  • Vietnam's Vuong Thi Vy defeated Indonesia's Christina Marwan Jembay at the featherweight (57kg)

Laos
  • DPR Korea's Kim Hyang Mi defeated Laos' Daoyamuly Chanthilath at the light flyweight (48kg)
  • South Korea's Nam Eun Jin defeated Laos' Mimi Yoysaykham at the flyweight (51kg)

Myanmar
  • India's Neeraj defeated Myanmar's Nally at the flyweight (51kg)
  • Chinese Taipei's Lin Yu Ting defeated Myanmar's Nwe Ni Oo at the bantamweight (54kg)

Philippines
  • Japan's Tsubasa Komura defeated Philippines' Judelyn Casin at the light flyweight (48kg)
  • Philippines' Aira Villegas defeated Sri Lanka's Dulani Jayasinghe at the flyweight (51kg)
  • Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Tam defeated Philippines' Aira Villegas at the flyweight (51kg)
  • China's Yin Junhua defeated Philippines' Nesthy Petecio at the featherweight (57kg)

Singapore
  • Nepal's Lalita Maharjan defeated Singapore's Leona Hui Xin Yee at the light flyweight (48kg)
  • DPR Korea's Kim Song Sim defeated Singapore's Efasha Kamarudin at the bantamweight (54kg)
  • Kazakhstan's Nazym Ishchanova defeated Singapore's Nur Sabrina Binte Mohamed Faizal at the featherweight (57kg)


Thailand
  • Chinese Taipei's Pin Meng Chieh defeated Thailand's Panpradab Plodsai at the light flyweight (48kg)
  • Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Tam defeated Thailand's Chuthamat Raksat at the flyweight (51kg)
  • Chinese Taipei's Huang Hsiao Wen defeated Thailand's Tassamalee Thongjan at the featherweight (57kg)
  • DPR Korea's Choe Hye Song defeated Thailand's Ratchadaporn Saoto at the lightweight (60kg)
  • Kazakhstan's Valentina Khalzova defeated Thailand's Sudaporn Seesondee at the welterweight (69kg)
  • Thailand's Peamwilai Laopeam defeated Nepal's Punam Rawal at the light welterweight (64kg)
  • Semi-finals - Kazakhstan's Madina Nurshayeva defeated Thailand's Peamwilai Laopeam at the light welterweight (64kg). Bronze for Laopeam.


Vietnam
  • Day1 - India's Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte defeated Vietnam's Trinh Thi Diem Kieu at the light flyweight (48kg)
  • Day2 - Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Tam defeated Thailand's Chuthamat Raksat at the flyweight (51kg)
  • Day 4 - Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Tam defeated Philippines' Aira Villegas at the flyweight (51kg)
  • Day5 Semi-finals - Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Tam defeated Mongolia's Nandintsetseg Myagmardulam at the flyweight (51kg)

  • Day1 - Vietnam's Le Thi Bang defeated Japan's Aya Shinmoto at the bantamweight (54kg)
  • Day3 - Vietnam's Le Thi Bang defeated China's Liu Piaopiao at the bantamweight (54kg) 
  • Day5 Semi-finals - Vietnam's Le Thi Bang defeated DPR Korea's Kim Song Sim at the bantamweight (54kg). In the gold medal match, Taipei's bet won over her. Bang settled for silver medal.
  • Day2 - Vietnam's Vuong Thi Vy defeated Indonesia's Christina Marwan Jembay at the featherweight (57kg)
  • Day4 - China's Yin Junhua defeated Vietnam's Vuong Thi Vy at the featherweight (57kg)
  • Day1 - Vietnam's Luu Thi Duyen defeated Uzbekistan's Raykhona Kodirova at the lightweight (60kg)
  • Day 3 - Vietnam's Luu Thi Duyen defeated Kyrgyzstan's Farida Pupova at the lightweight (60kg)
  • Day5 Semi-finals - Vietnam's Luu Thi Duyen defeated DPR Korea's Choe Hye Song at the lightweight (60kg). She settled for silver medal after South Korea's Yeonji Oh defeated her in the finals.
  • Day4 - Kazakhstan's Madina Nurshayeva defeated Vietnam's Nguyen Thu Tuyen at the light welterweight (64kg)
  • Day2 - Vietnam's Tran Thi Linh defeated South Korea's Kim Shin Hyeong at the welterweight (69kg)
  • Day4 - Vietnam's Tran Thi Linh defeated DPR Korea's Pak Un Sim at the welterweight (69kg)
  • Day5 Semi-finals - China's Gu Hong defeated Vietnam's Tran Thi Linh at the welterweight (69kg)
  • Day3 - Kazakhstan's Dariga Shakimova defeated Vietnam's Luu Diem Quynh at the middleweight (75kg)
  • Day5 Semi-finals - Vietnam's Tran Thi Oanh Nhi defeated Kazakhstan's Lyazzat Kungeibayeva at the heavyweight (+81kg) but was defeated by Guzal Ismatova of Uzbekistan in the finals.
  • Day5 Semi-finals - Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Huong defeated Uzbekistan's Ezozakhon Melieva at the light heavyweight (81kg) but was defeated by China's Yang Xiaoli in the gold medal match.
