🤺 6th Asian U23 Fencing Championships 2017


The 6th Asian U23 Championships 2017 was held at the Hanoi Indoor Games Gymnasium  in Hanoi, Vietnam from October 26 to 31. The six-day event saw the participation of 247 competitors (139 males and 108 females) from 21 countries and some non-Asian countries.
Only fencers from Asia and Oceania who are born from 1994 or later are eligible to participate in this year's AU23 championships.

Our Southeast Asian countries who took part in this tournament includes the Philippines, Thailand and host Vietnam. 

Vu Van Hung of Vietnam won silver medal in the men's individual sabre category. He was defeated by South Korean Lee Jonghyu in the gold medal match.  
Still in sabre event, the Vietnam men's team won its second silver medal while its women's Epee team ended with bronze medal after a defeat they suffered from Hong Kong fencers.
The third silver was brought by men's epee team while another bronze medal was added by the women's team in sabre to account five medals for Vietnam.
The Philippines also took a limelight by winning two bronze medals. The Filipino fencers won in the women's foil team event and in the men's foil team event.
South Korea dominated the event claiming ten of the twelve gold medals while Hong Kong collected the two remaining gold medals.
