Philippines Bags 2023 World Cup of Pool Title


 
James Aranas and Johann Chua of the Philippines captured the 2023 World Cup of Pool title after beating Germany in the finals, 11-7. The duo is the first unseeded team to win the World Cup of Pool.
 
The event was held at the Pazo de Feiras e Congresos de Lugo in Lugo, Spain from June 27 to July 2 and contested by 32 teams from around the world.
 
Aranas and Chua upset 2022 defending champion Francisco Sánchez Ruíz & David Alcaide of Spain in Round 1 and defeated another team from the host in the second round before trailing to the quarterfinals and semifinals where they won with just a single point advantage. 
 
Philippines now holds the most number of World Cup titles with four followed by China with 3.
