Pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena of the Philippines makes it to the 2024 Paris Olympics after meeting the qualifying entry standard of 5.82m at the Wanda Diamond League - Stockholm in Sweden on Monday morning, July 3 (Manila Time).
Obiena cleared it (standard entry) on his 2nd attempt and also settles for silver medal in that meet.
Obiena is the first Filipino to qualify to the Paris Olympics and third athlete from the Southeast Asian region.
Obiena now joins Nguyen Thi That of Vietnam (Cycling) and Jonathan Eu Jin Tan of Singapore (Swimming).
