Three Southeast Asian athletes represented the region at the recently concluded 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships. The 3-day indoor championships was held in Belgrade, Serbia that started last March 18.
On day 1, Kristina Knott of the Philippines finished 8th place in Heat 3 (Round 1) of the women's 60m run. Knott clocked 7.39 (SB) and was not able to advance for the next round, only First 3 in each heat (Q) and the next 6 fastest (q) advance to the Semi-Finals.
On day 2, Lalu Muhammad Zohri of Indonesia entered the semifinal round after finishing 3rd in Heat 3 (Round 1) of the men's 60m on Saturday morning. Zohri clocked 6.58, a new national indoor record. However, Zohri did start in the afternoon's semifinal (Heat 2).
On the final day, it was Chen Xiang Ang of Singapore that saw action in the men's 60m hurdles. He was in Heat 3 of the first round and finished in 6th place. He clocked 7.91, a new national indoor record for Singapore. However, he did not advance for the next round.
Meanwhile, Olympian pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena of the Philippines was not in the competition's list.
