Four new players were identified to join the national training pool for the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Hanoi this coming May.
After holding the Vietnam SEA Games selection for tennis, two women and two men were selected to join the national training this February.
For the men's division, 14
tennis athletes were invited to join in the preparatory selection for SEA Games which was held at the GBK Senayan Tennis Center Court, Jl. Gate I Senayan, Jakarta. These are Achad Imam Ma'ruf (West Papua),
Ari Fahresi of East Java, Claudio Renardi Lamanauw (DKI Jakarta), Iqbal
Bilal Saputra (East Kalimantan), Justin Kuo (West Java), Kareem Abdul
Hakim (West Java) and Lucky Chandra Kurniawan (South Kalimantan),
The other players who also invited in the January 3-8 selection were Moh.
Gunawan Trismuwantara (East Java), M Althaf Dhaifullah Albaihaqi (West
Papua), Nauvaldo Jati Agatra (DKI Jakarta), Nathan Anthony Barki (West
Java), Rafli Feby Putra Tri Prasetyo (West Java), Rifqy Sukma Ramadhan
(West Java), and Tegar Abdi Satria Wibowo (South Kalimantan).
But among the 14 athletes, Achad Imam Maruf and Tegar Abdi Satrio Wibowo were named to join the national squad.
In the women's side, Fitriani Sabatini from DKI Jakarta and Novela Rezha Milenia from Papua were selected and will debut for the red and white flag in Vietnam SEA Games.
The four new names will join 2019 SEA Games gold medalists Aldila Sutjiadi, Jessy Rompies, and Beatrice Gumulya for the women's division; and Christopher Rungkat, M. Rifqi Fitriadi and Justin Barki for the men's category.
Some of these national players are taking part in the national championships dubbed as Mandiri Tennis Open 2022 scheduled from February 6 to 13.
Indonesia won three gold medals out of the five events in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games held in the Philippines.
