Malaysia did not go home empty-handed from the just concluded 2020 Tokyo Olympics. With 30 athletes competing in 10 sports, Team Malaysia managed to win two Olympic medals from badminton and in cycling.
Aaron Chia and Wooi Yik Soh claimed the bronze medal after defeating Southeast Asian rivals Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia in the bronze medal match of the men's doubles. This was the first medal of Malaysia at the 32nd Summer Olympiad.
After a week, it was Mohd Azizulhasni Awang who brought home a silver medal in the men's keirin. It was a tough job for Awang as he is the reigning bronze medalist in the same event in Rio Olympics five years ago.
In the end, Malaysia fell short to win its first ever Olympic gold medal in Tokyo, Japan and will have 3 years to prepare their athletes for Paris Olympics.
