Vietnam likely to postpone SEA Games To Next Year

Vietnam proposed a postponement to the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in Vietnam. The proposal was made in a virtual meeting of the members of the SEA Games Council on Wednesday. If approved, it would set the biennial meet back from November 2021 to July 2022.

"The Vietnam Olympics Committee, the host for SEA Games 31, has sent a letter to countries informing them of its proposal to postpone SEA Games 31 to July 2022 due to the complicated situation of the Covid-19 pandemic," said the AFP citing a report by Phap Luat Online.

According to a report, 8 out of the 11 countries (The Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Brunei, and Timor Leste) voted against the postponement but the final decision is still on the hands of the organizers.
