Online Karate: Philippines & Malaysia Won Medals


As the pandemic continues around the world, athletes also continue their competitiveness thru online competitions like the Adidas Karate World Open Series E-Tournament 2020.

In the event, Malaysia took two bronze medals while the Philippines captured one controversial silver medal on this online tournament.

Sam Hiang Fong won the bronze medal in the women's e-kata individual u21 event while compatriot Muhammad Aiqal Asmadie won his bronze medal in the men's e-kata individual u16 event.

Meanwhile, Philippines' Orencio James "OJ" De los Santos was awarded silver medal in the men's individual e-kata senior event behind Portugal's Eduardo Garcia after a scoring glitch.

According to sportsdata.org, Germany topped the medal ranking with 7 gold medals which was participated by 52 nations.

Brunei, another SEA nation,  also took part of the online tournament.
