SEA Games 2019 News 049: Indonesia Prepares 10 Petanque Athletes

Ten athletes were selected to join the Indonesian petanque team for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games 2019 to be held in the Philippines this November.

The ten athletes were selected after the three-day selection that took place at the Jakarta State University.

Selection were based on rankings of the 50 athletes coming from the 15 provinces of Indonesia.

Points accumulated by the athletes became the basis of rankings through the shooting and point categories of petanque.

Five females and five males were chosen to make up the team for Indonesia at the biennial meet.

Indonesia is not a strong contender for medal in petanque in SEA Games.

In fact, the only medal won by Indonesia based on 10 editions of SEA Games was only in 2015 Singapore SEA Games courtesy of Annisa Alfath in women's shooting event. She won silver medal behind Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Thi.

But this year, hopes are high for team Indonesia as the ten athletes aims good results for the 30th SEA Games.
