One of the sports the Philippines can dominate in international tournaments is billiards especially in pool events.
At the upcoming Southeast Asian Games 2019 to be held in their home turf, billiards is calendared among the 56 sports to be contested by 11 countries.
Billiards will have four disciplines namely pool, carom, English billiard and snooker.
Recently, the Billiard Sports Confederation of the Philippines (BSCP) held its qualifying tournament last March 11 to 29 at the Gameball training center on the second floor of the Sports Medicine building inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.
After the qualifying event, seventeen (17) outstanding cue artists will represent the sun and the three-star flag.
These are Rubilen Amit, Chezka Centeno, Irish Ranola and Flordeliza for the women's events.
Warren Kiamco, Dennis Orcollo, Carlo Biado, Johan Chua, Jeffrey Ignacio, Jeff Roda and Alvin Barbero for the men's events.
Also gaining the slots for team Philippines are Michale Angelo Mengorio, Basil Alshajar, Benjamin Guevarra, Luis Saberdo, Reynaldo Grandea and the legendary Efren "Bata" Reyes.
Ten (10) events will be contested at the 30th SEA Games namely men's 9-ball singles and doubles; men's 10-ball singles, women's 9-ball singles and doubles; women's 10-ball singles; men's 1-cushion carom singles; men's English billiard singles; and, men's snooker singles and doubles.
