Brunei who skipped its hosting right for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games will hold its qualifying meet for those who wants to represent the country in the sport of swimming.
The 27th Brunei Age Group Swimming Championships will serve as the qualifying meet.
The three-day swimming event will be held on April 19 to 21 at the National Aquatics Centre of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
It will not just a qualifying meet for the 30th SEA Games but also a qualifying meet for SEA Age Group Championships to be held in Phnom Penh on June 28 to 30.
Some of the aspiring swimmers wanting to represent Brunei are fourteen-year old Emma Yusuf, Jacqueline Lim and Muhammad Isa Ahmad.
Yusuf set a new national open record in the women's 200m breaststroke event while Lim also set a new national record in the women’s 400m Individual Medley at the recent 4th Brunei Open & Masters Swimming Championships.
At the same championships, the 21-year old Ahmad won 10 gold medals and set seven new records.
At the last SEA Games 2017 in Malaysia, there were no Brunei swimmers.
