SEA Games 2019 News 021: Malaysia to Hunt Esports Representatives


After Indonesia and Singapore expressed their process of preparedness in Esports, Malaysia is now on hunt for players going to the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Inevitable as may say, the growing popularity of Esport becomes more wider because of competitions happening around the world.

And one of these Esports growth-ness is the establishment of a local Esports league in Malaysia. This is one part of the government’s efforts to unearth talents in online gaming and to hunt Malaysia's representatives for Manila SEA Games this November.

In terms of regulations, Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq said the ministry has set up an eSports task force to be manned by cyber game professional players.
With the task force, Malaysia can set the rules and regulations for eSports.
SEA Games E-Sports confirmed events are Dota 2 and Starcraft II (PC), Tekken 7 (console), and Arena of Valor and Mobile Legends (mobile). The sixth and last confirmed event is the NBA 2K.
