If the 30th Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines features 56 sports, the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam plans to hold 40 sports in 2021.
According to source, below are the first 36 sports named by the 2021 host.
List of sport for 2021 SEA Games
Category 1 (compulsory sports): athletics, aquaticsThe remaining 4 sports are to be named in the next coming months.
Category 2 (Olympic and Asian Games sports): football, futsal, gymnastics, rowing, shooting, archery, weightlifting, judo, karate, wushu, wrestling, boxing, fencing, badminton, sepak takraw, tennis, volleyball, basketball, handball, cycling, table tennis, billiards, snooker and golf.
Category 3 (regional and new sports): petanque, shuttlecock, vovinam, fin-swimming, dance, chess, pencak silat, muay, bodybuilding, esport and kick boxing.
The 31st SEA Games will be organised in Hà Nội and the surrounding provinces of Bắc Ninh, Quảng Ninh, Hải Dương, Hải Phòng, Vĩnh Phúc and Hòa Bình.
