Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia saved the day not only for Malaysia but for the Southeast Asian region after winning the lone title in men's event.
Usually, Southeast Asian badminton players dominate or capture titles in a badminton tournament especially when held in the region. This time it's not.
Lee defeated Kento Momota of Japan in the men's finals, 21-17, 23-21.
Making it in the semi finals were Indonesi's Tommy Sugiarto in men's singles and Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon in women's singles. Both players are favorite to win at the coming Asian Games in Jakarta.
Japan took two titles - the men's and women's doubles while Taipei's Tzu Ying Tai took the women's singles title.
The tournament was held from June 26 and ended last July 1.
Below are the successful SEA athletes at the tournament.
