Philippine team represented by 8 athletes won a total of 5 medals in this competed.
Of the 5 medals, team Philippines copped 3 golds courtesy of Carlo Paalam in the Men's Light Flyweight (46-49kg), Eumir Felix Marcial Men's Middleweight (75kg) and Nesthy Petecio in the Women's Lightweight (57kg).
The other medalists were James Palicte who settled for silver in the Men's Lightweight (60kg) and bronze medal winner Aira Villegas in the Women's Flyweight (48-51kg).
Aside from the Philippines, Nguyen Thi
Tam of Vietnam reached the semi finals of the Women's Flyweight (48-51kg) but failed to advance in the finals. She then received the bronze medal.
Thailand which was represented by Nilawan Techaseup in the women's lightweight (57kg) settled for bronze medal while her teammate Supaporn Srisondee of the women's 60kg weight category settled also for bronze medal.
Aside from the our Southeast Asian boxers, competitors came from countries like Armenia, China, Japan, Korea, Hungary, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Germany, Ukraine, Egypt and Belarus.
Host Russia won 5 gold medals while China also won 3 gold medals.
