🥋 7th Southeast Asian Karate Championships 2018

The 7th Southeast Asia Karate Federation Championship was held in the northern province of Bac Ninh from April 23 to 25.

Nearly 400 sports officials, coaches and athletes from seven countries in the region including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam were brought together at the event.

Host Vietnam secured the top spot with 29 gold medals, 24 silver and 36 bronze medals while Indonesia stood second with nine gold medals followed by team Thailand who bagged seven titles.

Cambodian team also brought home five medals from this event. Ly Soueng won a silver and a bronze medal while Chrun Virakbout, Chhay Yuki, and Chhang Srey Phea all added bronze medals to lift Cambodia’s tally to five.

The regional competition featured the team and individual categories for both men and women events with four groups of age: 14-15, 16-17, over 18, and under 21 vying for 52 sets of medals. 

In the last edition of the tournament in 2017, host Indonesia ranked first with 23 golds, followed by Vietnam with 22 golds.
