🚴‍ 24th Asian Mountain Bike Championships 2018

The 24th Asian Mountain Bike Championships 2018 is being held in Danao City of the province of Cebu, Philippines from May 2 to 6.

Southeast Asian cyclists from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and host Philippines are among the 142 riders from fourteen (14) countries who confirmed to participate.

Host Philippines bagged the bronze medal in the Cross-country team relay event behind teams from China and Japan who won the gold and silver medals respectively. 

Team Philippines who bagged the bronze medal is composed of John Flores, Ariana Dormitorio, Jake Aldrin Rivera, Avegail Rombaon and Jericho Rivera.

Thailand placed 4th with some 4 minutes behind the host. Vietnam came 5th while Malaysia failed to finish the race.
Meanwhile, Thailand dominated both the women’s elite and men’s junior categories.

The fastest finisher in the women’s elite division was Thailand's Vipavee Deekaballes with 3:38.3. Her teammate Sirphatson Chatkamded was 8.06 seconds slower at second place, while Indonesia’s Tiara Andini Prastika, who had the highest UCI rank, ended up at third in 3:51.7.

Another Thai Chinnapat Sukchanya topped the men’s junior event in 3:15.37. Malaysia’s Mike Melson Fung finished second with 3:47.33.
In the Women Under-23 Olympic Cross Country, Ariana Dormitorio becomes the first Filipina to win gold medal in the Asian Mountainbike Championships. This win of Dormitorio made a total of 2 medals for team Philippines - 1 gold and a bronze medals.
