🥋 Judo | Dusseldorf Grand Slam 2018

The Dusseldorf Grand Slam 2018 is a judo tournament held in Dusseldorf, Germany from February 23 to 25. 

With 446 judokas from 5 continents, the Philippines with 3 competitors was the only Southeast Asia nation who competed in this competition.

Leading team Philippines was 2017 SEA Games gold medalist Kiyomi Watanabe winning bronze medal in the Women's -63kg event. 

She defeated world's no.13 Lucy Renshall of Great Britain and Maelle Di Cinto of France in the first and second rounds respectively before vowing against world's no.24  Gankhaich Bold of Mongolia in the quarter finals. 

But Watanabe shown great performance in the repechage beating Prisca Awiti of Mexico and world's no.18 Ketleyn Quadros to win the bronze medal. 

Other Philippine judokas were Shugen Nakano in Men's -66kg and Keisei Nakano in Men's -73kg events.
