The Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championships 2017 was held at the National Indoor Stadium (1) Thu Wun Na in Yangon, Myanmar from October 4 to 8.Southeast Asian countries who competed in the 5-day tournament were Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and host Myanmar.
And of course, our ASEAN badminton athletes capture six titles at this junior championships.
Leading Southeast Asian teams is Thailand who won three titles. Thai junior athletes were successful in boys' u17 singles courtesy of Kunlavut Vitidsarn, in girls' u17 singles won by Pattarasuda Chaiwan and in women's u15 doubles won by the tandem of Pornpicha Choeikeewong and Pornnicha Suwatanodom.
Aside fron Thailand, Indonesia won two titles - the U15 mixed doubles and the U17 women's doubles. The pair of Muhammad Ridwanul Arifin and Fadillah Nur Hidayah defeated the Thai tandem of Wisa Srisuriya and Pornnicha Suwatanodom in the finals of U15 mixed doubles, 22-20 and 21-16.
While the pair of Putri Larasati and Melanni Mamahit successfully won over the duo of Kelly Larissa and Shelandry Vyola in all Indonesian U17 women's doubles finals, 21-14 and 21-15.
The other title was won by Muhammad Fazriq Mohamad Razif and Zhen Yi Ong of Malaysia. The pair emerged victorious in boys' u15 doubles beating a Chinese Taipei tandem.
