7th Karate-do Goju-kai Global Championships 2017


The 7th International Karate-do Goju-kai Association Global Championships was held at the Richmond Olympic Oval, in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada from the 28th September to October 2. 

Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand were among nearly 500 athletes from 23 participating nations of this successful tournament . 

Making it to the medal podium were Indonesia who managed to collect 31 medals while the Philippines collected 22 medals. 

Below are the successful Southeast Asian athletes who won gold medals in this tournament.

  • Alwi Faris Shahab (16-17 yr. old - Boys' - Junior Kata) 
  • Shita Devi Desak Komang Laksmi & Dinda Amaliah Ichwan Rezqy (Bunkai Female: 14/15 & 16/17)

  • Mahdi Shahab (Masters Male - Kata - 50 and over) 
  • Ayu Asdhaniaty Ade (Senior Female - Kumite -61kg)

  • Matthea Lazo (12-13 yr. old - Girls' +50kg Kumite)
  • Sakua Alforte (14-15 yr. old - Girls' Cadets Kumite -47kg)
  • Adam Bondoc (16-17 yr. old -  Boys' Junior Kumite -76kg) 
  • Paulo Manuel Gorospe (6-8 yr. old - Boys' Kata)
