The World Cadet Taekwondo Championships 2017 was held in Sharme El Sheikh, Egypt last week of August drawing the best taekwondo jins around the world.
Southeast Asian teams from Thailand and the Philippines were successful in their campaign as these two taekwondo powerhouse countries of Southeast Asia won medals in this tournament.
Philippines' Mary Angeline Alcantara won the gold medal in the women's -44kg category while her compatriot Arianne Espida settled for silver medal in the women's -37kg category.
Thailand again proved that they have world class talents capturing 9 medals including 3 golds.
Gold medal winners from Thailand are Chu Jongkolrattanawattana in the women's -41kg event, Ratatip Namsri in the women's -33kg event and Sasikarn Tongchan in the women's -51kg category.
Also making to the podium are Fasai Chaknok (women's -29kg), Thawin Yaengkulchow (men's -37kg) and Pawilai Kobkuerkul (women's +59kg). All three settled for silver medals while Thanakrit Yodrak (men's -45kg), Napat Sritimongkol (men's -49kg) and Pannatorn Talaiwong (men's -57kg) won bronze medals in this competition.
