🏐 SMM 2nd Asian Women's U23 Est Cola Volleyball Championship 2017


Three Southeast Asian countries took part at the 2nd Asian Women's U23 Est Cola Volleyball Championship 2017. The event was held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from May 13 to May 21. 

Only thirteen participating teams in a long week competition showcased their skills on the court and were divided in the four (4) pools.
Pool A was composed of host Thailand, Macau and Hong Kong. Japan, Vietnam and Uzbekistan were grouped in Pool B while Australia battled against Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Sri Lanka in Pool B. And in Pool D, Iran, Malaysia and New Zealand.   

Below were the results of preliminaries.
        Pool A: Thailand 3-0 Hong Kong (25-18, 25-12, 25-9)
        Pool A: Thailand 3-0 Macau (25-12, 25-8, 25-8)

        Pool B: Vietnam 3-0 Uzbekistan (25-14, 25-17, 25-16)
        Pool B: Vietnam 0-3 Japan (12-25, 15-25, 21-25)

        Pool D: Malaysia 3-0 New Zealand (25-23, 25-12, 25-12)
        Pool D: Malaysia 0-3 Iran (21-25, 23-25, 16-25)

Pool F: Vietnam 3-0 Iran (25-19, 25-17, 25-19)
Pool E: Thailand 3-1 Kazakhstan (24-26, 25-21, 25-10, 25-10)
Pool F: Malaysia 0-3 Japan  (14-25, 14-25, 6-25)
Pool E: Thailand 3-1 Chinese Taipei (27-25, 23-25, 28-26, 25-21)
Pool F: Vietnam 3-0 Malaysia (25-15, 27-25, 25-15)
Quarter Finals

Vietnam 3-0 Kazakhstan (25-19, 25-20, 25-14)
Semi Finals

3rd Place/ Bronze Medal Match
  • Vietnam 3-0 Chinese Taipei (25-20, 25-19, 25-19)

1st Place / Gold Medal Match
  • Thailand 2-3 Japan (25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 25-27, 12-15)

Final Rank: 2nd - Thailand, 3rd - Vietnam & 7th - Malaysia
Team Thailand qualifies for the 2017 U23 World Championship to be held in Slovenia this August. They will be joined by team Japan who won the 2nd Asian Women's U23 Volleyball Championship 2017.
