The Alor Setar, Kedah-born Lee is one of the most decorated badminton players of Malaysia. He won the gold medal in the men's singles at the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships and the 2019 SEA Games both held in Manila, Philippines.
The 6-foot-1 badminton enthusiast is a multiple medalist in the Asia Team Championships, Thomas Cup, Sudirman Cup (Mixed Team) and the World Junior Championships. He also competed in the Asian Games and in the Commonwealth Games. Other than these, he won numerous men's singles titles in his career.
This is Lee Zii Jia's second consecutive appearance in the Summer Olympiad and is one of the favorite to win medal in the men's singles event.
The men's singles group stage competition in Paris is scheduled on July 27.
