Philippine Athletics team will be led by world's no. 2 pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena whom they expect to break the Philippine medal drought in athletics at Asiad. Aside from Obiena, twelve more strong athletes will compete for Team Philippines that will be accompanied by 11 coaches.
Philippines is also rooting on long jumper Janry Ubas who won gold medals in two competitions in Europe this year and to hurdler Robyn Brown who won gold medal at this year's Asian championships in Thailand.
The last medal won by the Philippines was a bronze medal in 1994 Hiroshima Asiad courtesy of Elma Muros in women's long jump.
