Indonesia advances to the main draw of the Women’s Baseball Asia Cup to be held in Hong Kong after sweeping their Group B matches in the qualifier round. Indonesia defeated Sri Lanka (24-3), Hong Kong (22-2) and Pakistan (8-2).
The qualifier was held at Sai Tso Wan Stadium in Hong Kong from May 21 to May 23 with seven teams separated into two groups.
In Group A, Thailand and Malaysia was overpowered by India who will also advance to the main draw. India beat Thailand in their first game, 9-8, and Malaysia on Day 3 of the qualifier, 19-0. Meanwhile, Thailand dominated Malaysia, 11-3 to claim the second spot in Group A.
India who topped Group A and Indonesia for Group B will advance to the Asia Cup to be held in Hong Kong starting May 26. Indonesia will join Japan, Korea and the Philippines in Group B while India will compete against China, Taipei and host Hong Kong in Group A.
The top 4 of this tournament will qualify for the Women’s Baseball World Cup later this year.
