The Philippine sailing team is one of earliest teams that will arrive for SEA Games in Cambodia. They are scheduled to depart on April 18 and will have some days to train and prepare their boats to be used in the actual competition.
Scheduled to on May 1 according to the official website, the actual competition will start the following day onward.
Team Philippines is composed of four SEA Games rookies ages from 14 to 16 years old. They will only compete 3 events out of the total five events.
Josa Gonzales (15yo) and Ronello Castillo (14 yo) will compete
in the Optimist Class (15yo &Under),---- 16-year old
Teogenes Villando (16yo) in Laser 4.7 category (17yo&Under) while Jeanson Lumapas will be seeing action in the Laser
Standard.
These athletes will be coached and guided by Mario Malazarte (Optimist), Ridgely Balladares (Laser 4.7) and Joel Mejarito (Laser Standard).
