The reigning Southeast Asian Games men's artistic gymnastics all-around champion Carlos Edriel Yulo of the Philippines won two medals at the 51st World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. The event was held in Liverpool, United Kingdom from October 29 to November 6.
Yulo qualified in 3 apparatus finals and in the individual all-around finals. In the individual all-around event, he finished in 8th overall with accumulated score of 82.098 while he also missed the podium in the floor exercise where he scored 13.300 to end up in 7th place.
But on the last day of the competition, Yulo bounced back with silver medal in the men's vault where he got an average score of 14.950 behind Artur Davtyan of Armenia who won the gold medal with 15.050 points.
At the same night, Yulo won the bronze medal in the parallel bars with 15.366 points. China's Zou Jingyuan got the gold medal while Lukas Dauser of Germany settled for silver medal.
Yulo is the only Southeast Asian gymnast who won medals at this year's world championships. In the 2021 world artistic gymnastics championships in Kitakyushu, Japan , he managed to win gold medal in men's vault and silver medal in parallel bars.
Yulo has won medals in his four consecutive world championships appearances beginning in 2018 and has pocketed a total of six (2-gold; 2-silver; 2-bronze) medals.
