Cambodia will field a women's basketball team for the first time since 1970 to the Southeast Asian Games.
Four players were chosen by the USA-Cambodia Basketball Association (UCBA) for the Vietnam-bound Cambodian 3×3 basketball team.
The women's team is composed of Jasmine Kong, Sima Suon, Sidtia Sidtikun and Tianna Sidtikun.Kong was a varsity player in high school and in college and is currently coaching at Bohannon Middle School in San Lorenzo, California.
It was reported that UCBA was trying to recruit five
Cambodian-American players for the team. Aside from the four mentioned names, the list also
included Mikenzie Yim-Harvin, Teressa Thun and Destiny Khay.
The UCBA also announced that it will also field a men’s 3×3 team in the next SEA Games.
At the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, Cambodia men's basketball team defeated team Myanmar to finish 7th place overall in the ranking.
