Despite not identified among the sports that can deliver medal for Cambodia at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, the Cambodian swimming team started its training.
Currently there are twenty-two national swimmers for Cambodia. Four of which are based abroad. These are Kaing Muynin, Mei-Li Tan Minnich and Matthew Bennici who are
based in the United States while Cambodian-American swimmer Sovann
Montross is currently based in Phuket, Thailand.
The Cambodia-based national swimmers are training mostly at the swimming
pools in the Olympic Stadium and Morodok Techo National Stadium.
The Khmer Swimming Federation (KSF) has plan to revive the swimming team ahead of the 2023 SEA Games where Cambodia is about host.
The KSF is also planning to send 10 swimmers to train in China in preparation for the 2021 and 2023 SEA Games.
Last January 2022, Cambodia held its national swimming championships and at the first week of November 2021, an open water championships was being held.
Cambodia has not yet won medal in many past editions of SEA Games.
