Indonesia and Thailand Won Titles at the 2019 Finnish International Challenge

Our Southeast Asian badminton players excelled at the recent 2019 Finnish International Challenge held at Vantaan Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland.

Indonesia and Thailand bannered the region as they capture titles at the four-day badminton tournament.

Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn captured the men's singles event title after defeating Taipei's Lin Chun-Li, 21-16, 18-21 and 21-14 in the finals.

Meanwhile, Indonesia won two titles in men’s doubles and mixed doubles events.

The duo of Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana defeated Germany's Jones Ralfy Jansen and Peter Kaesbauer in the men's doubles finals, 21-17 and 21-17.

While Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Lisa Ayu Kusumawati won the mixed doubles title after beating Denmark's Mathias Bay-Smidt and Rikke Søby, 22-20, 15-21 and 21-14.

Also reaching the finals were Thailand's Porntip Buranaprasertsuk in the women's singles and Indonesia's Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Ribka Sugiarto in the women's doubles event but all failed to defeat their respective opponents.
The tournament was held from April 4 to 7.
