SEA Games 2019 News 023: Vietnam To Defend Women's Football title


If the men's team is aiming for gold medal, the women's football team of Vietnam is also targeting the gold and defend its SEA Games football title this coming November.

The women's team is on tight competition schedules as the team will compete in three tournaments.

Vietnam women's team is aiming to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympics as the team is already through into the second round of  Asian qualifying zone. Vietnam is in group B along with Jordan, Hong Kong and host Uzbekistan. The competition is scheduled this April.

The second tournament for Vietnam will be the 2019 Southeast Asian Women's Championship to be held in Thailand on mid-August. 

And the third tourney will be the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines. 

Coach Mai Duc Chung is assigned a lot of tasks but not pressured entering those competitions ahead. 

The coach proposed to their football federation a 15-day training camp in Japan or Korea for a high intensity training to prepare the players.

Meanwhile Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) noted the nutritional issues and the fitness of the athletes to ensure their good preparations for the coming tournaments.
