The 2nd Taolu World Cup Wushu 2018 was held at Thuwuna National indoor stadium, Yangon, Myanmar from November 17 to 18.
Malaysia won 4 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals. The 2 gold medals were won by Wong Weng Son in men’s jianshu and men’s qiangshu (spear) events.
The other two golds were won by Phoon Eyin in the jianshu and qiangshu events.
Malaysia's Tan Cheong Min also did well by winning a silver in the women’s nanquan (barehands) event and a bronze in the nandao (broadsword) event.
Meanwhile, the Philippines won 1 silver medal courtesy of Thornton Quiney Lou Sayan.
Host Myanmar also won medals including a gold medal care of Nyein Chan Ko Ko with 9.67 points in men’s Taijijian.
It is second medal for Nyein Chan Ko Ko. He already won bronze medal on the first day of the competition with 9.66 points in Men’s Taijiquan.
Myanmar's Aye Thitsar Myint won silver medal with 9.64 points in women’s Nandao and she also won bronze medal with 9.18 points in women’s Nangun.
The other silver medal for Myanmar was brought home by Sandi Oo in qiangshu event.
Myanmar secured 1 gold, 2 silvers and 2 bronze medals.
Indonesia also bagged a bronze medal courtesy of Indonesian Muhd Daffa Golden Boy in the men’s qiangshu.
A total of 88 wushu athletes from 22 countries competed in 11 men’s events and 11 women’s events, including Taijiquan, Taijijian, Jianshu, Qiangshu, Nandao and Nangun.
The third Taolu World Cup (Wushu) is scheduled in Japan in 2020.
