🎾 10th ITF Malacca International Junior Championship 2018

The 10th ITF Malacca International Junior Championship 2018 was held  at the MITC Tennis Complex Ayer Keroh, Melaka in Malaysia from May 8 to 13.

Players from SEA nations like Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam competed against other players from Chinese Taipei, India, China, Australia, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. 

Thailand claimed the boys' doubles event title as the tandem of Natthayut Nithithananont and Thantub Suksumrarn of Thailand defeated Chieh Cheng Yu and Hua-Chen Yu of Chinese Taipei, 6-4 & 6-4.

They also defeated the team from Hong Kong in the semi finals and Indonesia's  Odeda Muhammad Arazza and Rafli Feby Putra Tri Prasetyo in the quarter finals.

In the boy's singles event, Thantub Suksumrarn of Thailand faced Yamato Sueoka of Japan in the finals and defeated the Japanese player in two matches, 6-1 and 6-3.

But before reaching the finals, he beat Chinese Taipei's Han-Chih Lin in the semifinals and Malaysia's   Jian Keong, Takeshi Koey in the quarter finals, 6-3 and 6-2.

In girl's singles event, Thailand dominates again courtesy of  Lunda Kumhom who defeated Jiaqi Huang of China, 6-4 and 6-1 in the semi finals, to arrange a final clash against India's Shivani Amineni.

At the final clash, Kumhom prevailed by disposing Amineni, 6-3 and 6-1 to win the girl's singles title.

Also in semi finals of girl's singles event was Indonesia's Janice Tjen who vowed out to Amineni of India.

For doubles of girls event, Indonesia's Priska Madelyn Nugroho shared its victory with India's Shivani Amineni as the two teamed-up to defeated Yujiao Che and Jiaqi Huang of China, 6-2 and 6-3 in the finals. 

The duo also defeated Janice Tjen of Indonesia who partnered with Chia Yi Tsao from Taipei in the semi finals.

All-in-all, Southeast Asian youth tennis players had a great finish at the end of the competition especially for the Thai and Indonesian competitors.
