Asian Road and Para Cycling Championships 2018

The 2018 Asian Road and Para Cycling Championships was hosted by Myanmar and the event began in the beautiful place of Nay Pyi Taw. 

This is the second time Nay Pyi Taw has hosted the Asian Road and Para Cycling Championships. The city previously hosted the event in 2015.

Eight (8) Southeast Asian countries were among the 23 nations from Asia who participated at the event. These were Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and host Myanmar

Vietnam was successful at this regional championships collecting 1 gold and two bronze medals. Cambodia, Indonesia and Malaysia also took gold medal in the master event. While Thailand and the Philippines also made podium finishes at the event.

Vietnam won its gold medal in the women’s 106km road race courtesy of Nguyen Thi That while the other two bronze medals were won by Huynh Minh Nghia in the time trial 22km and Nguyen Thi Thu Mai  in the women’s individual U23 70km road race events.
Also in the medal haul were Philippines and Thailand. Rex Luis Krog of the Philippines won the silver medal in the men's junior individual road race while Wachirawit Saenkhamwong placed 3rd and collected the bronze medal. 

Malaysia also collected its bronze medal in the women's U23 individual time trial courtesy of Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir. 

In the master events, Indonesia's Roy Aldrie Wijhianto and Frederick Murtanu won the gold and bronze medals in the (35-39 yrs old) ITT respectively. While Norhasmat Abdul Aziz of Malaysia won gold in the same event for the 40-44 yrs.old bracket.   

While in the women's master individual time trial, only two cyclists participated and it was won by Cambodian Sivlang Heng defeating her fellow compatriot. 
This cycling event was held from February 8 to 12 and gave 18 gold medals.(Paaracyling results below)
